Wall of Fame – Difference Makers

Whole Earth Farms “Wall of Fame” seeks to shine a light on some of the folks that we’ve come across who are talking the talk AND walking the walk towards making the world a better place….. People on the front lines out there working every day to raise awareness about living and eating healthy, and doing things that are good for people and our planet. A great big THANK YOU goes out to these folks. *** By the way, if you know someone who you think should be featured here, drop us a line.

The Garden Girls: Marilyn and Donelle Simmons (aka, The Dirt Duchess).

Hailing from Waxahachie, TX, these two ladies are a force to be reckoned with. They are the owners of Garden Inspirations (www.gardeninspirations-tx.com), The DFW Truck Farm and the hosts of a new radio show in the DFW metroplex on KAAM 770 called “The Farm Girls Organic Radio Show”, aired every Friday from 1:00 to 1:30 pm. Marilyn and Donelle teach classes on organic gardening,  the lost arts of canning and preserving, and travel all over the metroplex to schools, markets and wherever they are needed to teach folks about where food comes from, and how to raise healthy, chemical and pesticide free food yourself.  Their enthusiasm is contagious. Truly wonderful folks! Check out their website and tune in to their radio program to read and hear more about what these two are up to.

Cynthia Chippendale, of the Potager Cafe in Arlington

(www.potagercafe.com) is an inspirational soul. The name Potager, according to Cynthia,  means “an all dressed up vegetable garden”. An apt title for a woman who runs a “Slow Food” restaurant that serves nothing but dishes made exclusively from fresh, locally grown natural foods, purchased from local growers and producers. One of the most interesting and unique features of her menu is that there are no prices. Cynthia says that her customers order the items and portions that they want, and she tells them to “pay what they think the meal is worth”! You might think the idea sounds a bit crazy, but she just finished her third year of business, and is doing great. In addition, she recently opened a little grocery shop across the street that sells the same wonderful veggies, meats, eggs, dairy, breads, wines, etc that she uses in her restaurant.. only packaged for folks to take home and prepare themselves. We at Whole Earth Farms think she is a shining example of how one person can make such a huge impact on so many. Thank you Cynthia for all you’re doing!
